Gaillardia-Yellow Gaillardia g. aristata-Blanket flower
Gaillardia
USDA Zones 3–10 are winter hardy for this short-lived perennial. Easily cultivated in full sun in average, medium, well-drained soils. Prefers wet, organically rich, well-draining soils, but can tolerate certain dry conditions. However, in hard clay Missouri soils, it performs poorly. Seeds of several hybrid cultivars can be grown. Sow seed directly in the garden after the last frost date for those who are able. Kiowa tribe believed that these flowers brought luck. On the other hand, it is used to treat severe skin disorders.
