African Blue Basil
Ocimum kilimandscharicum x basilicum 'Dark Opal'
This gorgeous variety features deep purple stems/veining, and violet flowers.
African Blue Basil is a must-have in the garden, as it blooms profusely, and is an excellent pollinator plant. This very fragrant perennial basil has green leaves with light purple to pink flowers. Although it blooms continuously, it does not go to seed, and can only grow from cuttings, which is what makes it perennial. The leaves, stems, and flowers are all edible, and can be used in culinary preparation as a seasoning as well as to make a delicious pesto.
