Turnip-Japanese Red Round
Brassica rapa subsp. rapa
This is a popular Japanese turnip variety. The root is semi-globed, with a deep scarlet red skin and tender, crisp white flesh. When harvested young or fully mature, it has a wonderful, sweet taste. Turnip tops have red veins and stems and are green in color. Roots can be pickled and added to soup.
