Mint of Vietnam. This creeping, herbaceous perennial is neither a member of nor related to the mint family. However, the general odor and appearance are the same. This plant thrives in tropical environments and can be found growing wild in Vietnam. It should be considered as an annual because of its vulnerability to cold temperatures. Food Vietnam Freshly prepared salads and rice paper rolls are popular uses. Soups, stews, rice, beef, poultry, and curry dishes all contain this ingredient. Shredded leaves are used in a spicy soup known as “Laksa” in Singapore and Malaysia. The peppery minty flavor of Vietnamese mint is used in cooking. It's been compared to coriander in terms of flavor.
