Lettuce- Jericho Romaine (Heirloom)
Lactuca sativa
Here it is folks, a lettuce that can be grown in Florida year-round. During summer, I do encourage you to germinate the seeds inside, as the germination rate drops to about 30%. Also check out our Manoa from Hawaii. That one germinates no problem all summer. Both should be planted in dappled light and harvested young throughout the most intense days of summer. In the fall, winter, and spring, plant in full sun and let get full size. Jericho is a full-headed romaine with sword-like, juicy leaves, that was developed in Israel for heat tolerance. Sweet and mildly flavored, this romaine is extremely heat tolerant and very easy to grow.
