Homestead produces good yields of 8 Oz fruits that are meaty and have a good flavor. These are excellent for fresh eating as well as canning. This variety produces well in hot, humid environments and also can be grown with success throughout more temperate regions. It matures in about 80 days. Determinate.
Homestead tomatoes were developed to fulfill the demand for a wilt and crack resistant shipping tomato. This variety comes from the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station and the Southeastern Breeding Laboratory, who released it in 1952. Because of its southern heritage, Homestead also withstands southern growing conditions such as heat and humidity.
