Florida Finley Onion
Allium cepa aggregatum
This heirloom dividing onion is direct-planted in the fall from bulbs. This local variety has been thriving in Florida for at least 50 years on record by the Finley family in Polk County, Florida. We sourced the bulbs from Cody Cove Farm & Nursery who named the onion in honor of the donor's grandfather, Edward Finely. We are selling them as started plants. You will be able to purchase the bulbs from Cody Cove Farm & Nursery, when available.
This fast-growing onion grows as a short-statured plant with tight clusters of stems. The onion has three distinctive parts that are edible: The green leaves can be used as a green onion or chive, the white stem can be used as a green onion, and bulbs can be used as a "shallot type" onion. These are planted in fall and can be continuously harvested for their green leaves until they turn brown and go dormant in the summer (around May). The bulbs can then be stored for eating or planted again on Labor Day. Each cluster will have about a dozen individual bulbs. Click here to learn more about this onion's unique history. Again, we are selling them as started plants, not bulbs.

“So glad Plants were packaged very well as delivery driver did not read the live plants notice. Without the extra packaging the plants would not have survived.”
