Partridge pea is an herbaceous annual or short-lived perennial that grows wild in the "desert", sandhills, Flatwoods, coastal dunes, and other disturbed areas throughout the state. Flowers bloom year-round in South Florida, from late spring to late autumn. The nectar glands in the blooms attract ants, flies, wasps, and other bees, while the nectar glands attract butterflies and long-tongued bees.
